Pushup setback
Continuing in the Hundred Pushups program, I am in week 4 and have been having a tough time of it. Today I was supposed to do 29-33-29-29-40+ with two minute breaks in between. Instead I wound up doing 29-33-29-15 and being unable to continue. So, I'm going to repeat week 4 at the same difficulty level before moving on.

I'm going to be repeating week 3 next week. I had to cancel out this week because my lower back went out and getting into plank position killed me. Went to the back doc yesterday, so I'll be starting week 3 fresh on Monday.

So far I've been pleased with the program - I can now do 16 consecutive pushups (when I couldn't even do 3 before) and > 40 for a day.

I had to repeat week 4 a few times till I could move on. Same with the couch potato to 5k running, week 5.

I've never heard of the "couch potato to 5k" plan, and endurance is one of my weak points. Do you have a link to this plan?

I started off very badly, I mean I couldn't run half a mile. now I am up to 3 miles in 30 mins. So far this program is really working well for me.

Heh. I tried to start that this week. I'm at the 1-5 pushup starting range -- frightening how weak I've gotten since my hips went wonky, because I mostly stopped doing everything. Also frightening how much stronger I am than most of our emu volunteers.

I'm restarting again Monday, since I gave up this morning. Having five guys show up at 7 AM to work on the house wiring has made it difficult to swear at how fucking weak I am, which is the only way I get through the sets.

But the program is designed so that when you start hitting a wall, you keep doing what you last could do and move forward again, as all good programs are. You're right on track.
