Trip #1 started on Friday the 17th. After work we went to see Tron: Legacy (3.5 out of 5 from me), got dinner, and then stayed the night in the Westin at LAX prior to jetting off to Denver at 6:30 the next morning. That was the start of a weeklong vacation in Breckenridge, CO with my parents, my brother, his wife, and his two kids (one step-). It was my first time skiing in 12 or 13 years (I'm not sure) and Connie-Lynne's first time ever. It went almost perfectly. I skied for four and a half days and had a really great time. Connie-Lynne took three half-day lessons and at the end of the third we went down a run together. I am so happy that it was a good experience for her and that we now have another thing we can have fun doing together.
For four of the evenings we had dinner in cooked by a different member of the middle generation, and we had a huge amount of fun playing games. I'm sure my 10-year-old niece thinks the grownups are even stranger than she thought.
The only down note on the trip was that on the last night there, the 23rd, my brother's family got news from their dog-sitter that one of their two dogs had died in his sleep, which was very sad for all involved.
Yesterday we spent down at C-L's parents' house in Long Beach where we had another great time, even though several members of the family were sick.
I work tomorrow and Tuesday, then on Wednesday we leave for Cambria for the New Year's trip we have been going on for the last three years. Today, in addition to putting Christmas presents away, we have to make plans for how we're going to prepare for that. We get back from there on the 3rd, the day before C-L's birthday.
